In the Spring of 2001, lifelong Italian friends Roberto Faraone Mennella and Amedeo Scognamiglio merged their talents in design to launch Faraone Mennella.  The concept for their first collection came during a coffee break in a NYC Starbucks. Mennella grew up on in his family’s estate in Italy, and later moved to NYC to attend the Parsons School of Design. Upon graduation, he worked for LVMH, which is part of Christian Dior. Scognamiglio grew up in the design business with his family, which began creating handmade cameos in 1857 on the island of Capri. Today, Faraone Mennella is known as being a fine jewelry collection that’s sold through some of the most glamorous boutiques and specialty stores around the world.

Courtney Laine is the designer behind the artisan-made jewelry collection named Passementerie.  The word passementerie is the art of making elaborate trimmings of braid, cord, beads, and silk. It’s derived from the early French word passement meaning lace. This word clearly depicts her design style, which is superbly detailed and ornate. Laine uses hand-picked gemstones and only the finest materials in her jewelry. Her collections combine detailed beadwork with traditional and contemporary styles. Laine receives inspiration from historical events, art, and ancient architecture.

 
Caviare is Laine’s new eco-friend line of classy earrings. Agate is a variety of quartz characterized by its fineness of grain and brightness of color. This stone can be found in various minerals; however it is classically associated to originate in volcanic and metamorphic rocks.  Agate comes in a variety of colors including white, grey, light blue, orange, yellow, red, and black. Sometime during the 4^th century BC, it was discovered along the shore line of the Acate river in Sicily by the Greek philosopher Theophrastus.
