Demitasse Jewelry was established in 2006 by Los Angeles designer Rachel White. In French, Demitasse literally means half-cup; it can also refer to either a small coffee cup or black coffee served in the cup. White’s collections are modeled after the splendor of antique silverware. In 2000, she came across an article written about flatware and felt that people had forgotten how to entertain at home with these magnificent utensils. She wanted to bring back the intricate metalwork of these pieces to jewelry and thus her jewelry line began. Historically, Absinthe is described as a distilled alcoholic beverage that has an anise flavor. It was the alcoholic drink of the 19th century France.
