Prior to launching Marnie Bugs, a handbag and accessories brand in 2005, designer Marnie Cooper was selling beauty products for her family’s distribution company. Her handbag line came out of a necessity for a stylish tote that she could use to carry her products to fashion events. Not being able to find the perfect carryall tote, she decided to invest the time and energy into creating one that would fit her needs. Cooper realized she had a great product when at the next fashion event the attendees were more interested in her bag rather than the beauty products she was promoting.
