In 1999, Fashion & Accessory designers Heidi Middleton and Sarah-Jane Clarke founded Australian-based Sass & Bide as a line of skinny jeans. Motivated by a love of vintage clothing and markets, Clarke and Middleton began modifying jeans purchased from retail outlets and cutting them to meet their own tastes in fashion. Their initial success at London’s Portobello Road Market led to their first seasonal collection at Mercedes Australian Fashion Week in 2001. A chance meeting with Sarah Jessica Parker in 2002 propelled Sass & Bride into the international marketplace. Today Sass & Bide have expanded to a full collection of dresses, tees, jewelry, tops, and leggings.
