Elaine Unzicker Long Chainmail Scarf

Chainmail is designed from small metal rings linked together in a pattern to form a mesh look. It was used during the pre-Roman era as armor to reduce the chances of being wounded. Today we see chainmail used to create ornaments and jewelry. One particular designer, Elaine Unzicker, creates beautifully intricate jewelry and accessories from chainmail. Unzicker, who resides in California, studied sculpture in graduate school where she developed a way to cast various parts of plants into bronze, silver, and brass. She now uses this experience to create uniquely designed purses, vests, and jewelry.

Unzicker’s Long Chainmail Scarf is a fun and interchangeable design.  It can be worn as a scarf/necklace that elegantly wraps around the neck or as a sleek fashionable belt.  It’s handmade from chainmail links that contain four grey freshwater pearls on each end. This staliness steel Chainmail Scarf measures 46” long and 1 ¼” wide. Buy through Best American Arts for $159 and use coupon code jewelry09 to save 10%!

Legendary Gold Contest Winner

In February, the readers of Jewelry Revelations had the opportunity to win this 18kt Gold Bracelet by writing a personal story about a piece of gold jewelry that has a special and inspirational meaning. The Legendary Gold Contest was hosted by Debra Messing, jewelry designer Robert Lee Morris, and the World Gold Council to support Youth Aids charities.

Along with winning the bracelet designed by Messing and Morris, the winner was to be featured in a World Gold Council ad and their story printed in the May issue of InStyle Magazine.  I wanted to share with you the story as well as congratulate the winner, Kelly Nelson of New Jersey!  Click here to read the story.

Whimsy Customizable Rings by R. Craig Whitten

Delaware native R. Craig Whitten has been designing custom jewelry since 1977. He opened his first jewelry design studio in 1985, and later included a retail operation. Whitten recently launched whimsy™; a trio of uniquely customizable rings. The line is created by using reclaimed sterling silver, 14kt gold, and gemstones. In whimsy, Whitten decided to utilize dormant metals and gems as a way to counter the toxic effects of mining. What’s fabulous about these rings is that they allow you to easily change glass beads to match your outfit or mood! Essentially, it’s as if you have a new ring each time you change beads without the expense of purchasing numerous rings. The whimsy collection is a fantastic way to showcase your favorite beads. It accommodates Trollbeads, Pandora, and Chamilia collectibles. The rings are versatile, stylish, and practical.

This collection consists of Hannah, Sarah, and Megan rings, which are all crafted from reclaimed sterling silver. The difference in each is found in the accents. The Megan contains burnished reclaimed 14kt gold detailing accentuated with reclaimed diamonds.  Sarah comprises of burnished reclaimed 14kt gold detailing, and the Hannah is completely crafted of reclaimed sterling silver. I had the opportunity to view the Hannah ring, and I must say that the design of the whimsy collection is ingenious, yet very simple to use. This lustrous ring is solid and bold with a superior look and feel.  The whimsy collection is sensibly priced and a great way to match your ring with your outfit. Purchase this collection directly through whimsy, or visit their store locator to find a store near you. Cost: Hannah – $125, Sarah – $225, and Megan – $399. The beads are sold separately, but keep a look out for beads sold directly through whimsy very soon!
