Catherine Michiels Bronze Fig Pendant

Pendants derived from the Stone Age practice of wearing amulets or talismans around the neck. During this time, it consisted of objects such as stones, teeth, and shells. In the Renaissance era, depictions of mermaids, animals, ships, and mythological creatures were worn. Today, pendants have become a chic style and many designers are adding distinctive pendant designs to their jewelry collections.

Designer Catherine Michiels studied jewelry making at the Arts & Métiers Institute in Brussels. After working in the magazine industry for Marie Claire and Elle, Michiels returned to her passion of jewelry and launched a line that instills spiritual connotations to her designs. Glamour, Elle, W, US Weekly, Marie Claire, Vanity Fair, and among other magazines have featured her collections.

The Bronze Fig Pendant can be worn as necklace or wrapped around your wrist to create a fashionable bracelet. Michiels adds a fig and two leaf charms to symbolize abundance and prosperity. The lush silk ribbon is in a purple burgundy hue and is 30” long. Buy through Saks Fifth Avenue for $220.

Kate Spade Keswick Caning Bangle

After working for Mademoiselle Magazine as their Senior Fashion Editor & Head of Accessories from 1989 – 1991, renowned handbag designer Kate Spade noticed a lack in the accessories market. Since then, she has received numerous awards and honors such as Bon Appetit’s American Food & Entertaining Award for designer of the year and Elle Décor International Design Award for bedding. Her company has grown to now include apparel, glasses, home items, jewelry, as well as other collections.

Kate Spade’s Keswick Caning Bangle exhibits a luminous and cheerful effect. This bangle is created in a caning pattern, which is inspired by French bistro chairs. Spade uses indigo blue resin that is encased by the shiny 12kt gold design. It also comes in white and red and is 2.5” in diameter. Buy through Nordstrom for $195.
